Well I hope you enjoyed your Christmas and
New Year as much as we did. Looking at my profile in the mirror I think the
ol’ ski bindings will need turning up
a notch or two to handle the increased weight on them!! Mrs. Hon Sec got new
Atomic skis (yes I know I am biased but she actually wanted them)
It’s getting hectic on the trip front as we
have two in quick succession. Austria on 12th
January and then USA on 26th January. I have been busy between Christmas and New Year
sending out itineraries etc. for the
trips and waiting from people that they have received tickets
in the post. It’s mighty complicated this year with so many flight variations
but hopefully when the trip reports get written they will say that everyone
arrived safely.
This magazine will be coming out in
February after the USA trip as there just won’t be enough time to get it done
in the week between Austria and USA. Hopefully we will have lots of
interesting stories to tell from the trips.
The US trip is our first visit to the East
Cost of USA. Members were after
something different from the Lake Tahoe and Mammoth areas so we hope it works
out Ok. We have already been warned it can be very cold there.
For a long time I have been looking at our logo.
Our original one was designed in a competition we had soon after we started
as a club. It was someone in the old Lloyds Architect’s Dept. that designed
our first logo. Well we would like to see if you can come up with a new idea
for the logo. So there is a
competition with the prize for the winner being a free place on one of
our European trips next season.
Every member that joins gets a copy of our
trip report form to fill in. Not
too many come in these days from
existing members about ski trips they have been on apart from ours. We really
do want to carry on building up our database of resorts, hotels and ski companies. In particular we want to know about resorts
that you have found that suit families. So send in those forms or better
still email us. We hope shortly to add
a Holiday Report form to the web site so you can go on line and email your
report direct to us.
The 2002 Winter Olympics start whilst we are in USA and I know we
will be watching them there and when we get back. Alain Baxter represents our
best skiing hopes although ski problems have plagued him most of this season.
I am watching out for the Austrians several of whom come from in and around
the area we ski in in Austria.
